Trip Planner: Europe / Turkey / Turkish Aegean Coast / Izmir Province / Selcuk / Ephesus Terrace Houses
Discover how affluent Roman citizens lived 2,000 years ago at Ephesus Terrace Houses. These luxurious houses have been restored to such a degree that it seems as if someone is still living there. The upscale residences were mostly two storeys and featured interior central courtyards with ceiling openings. Their interiors showcase detailed floor mosaics, frescoes, carvings, and stonework of fine craftsmanship. You may be able to observe archaeologists working on site while you climb the stairs of the scaffolding to view the homes of all six units from above. The houses that are fully restored to their original appearance can be explored from inside by paying an extra fee.
