As the country's biggest port and one of the busiest in all of Europe, Hamburg has a well-deserved reputation as Germany's Gateway to the World.
Start off your visit on the 21st (Mon): contemplate the long history of St Nikolai Memorial, admire the landmark architecture of Speicherstadt, and then see the interesting displays at International Maritime Museum. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: take in the dramatic natural features at Alter Schwede, appreciate the extensive heritage of Alter Elbtunnel, then contemplate the waterfront views at Port of Hamburg, then wander the streets of Alster, and finally admire the striking features of St. Michael's Church.
