Madikeri is a hill station town in Karnataka state, India. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple and Cauvery River. Change things up with a short trip to Sera Jey Monastic University in Kushalnagar (about 1 hour away). There's still lots to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Nagarhole National Park, get outside with Kote Abbey waterfalls, experience rural life at Mercara Gold Estate Coffee Plantation, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Tibetan Monastery / Golden Temple Coorg.
