The second largest city in Michigan and a hub of furniture manufacturing, Grand Rapids bears the nickname "Furniture City." However, the destination's original name came from the rapids of the Grand River that once ran through the downtown area.

You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Blandford Nature Center and Kalamazoo Nature Center. Meyer May House and Cathedral of Saint Andrew will appeal to history buffs. South Bend to Grand Rapids is an approximately 2-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or take a train. In November in Grand Rapids, expect temperatures between 48°F during the day and 33°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Indianapolis.
