Bogota

Athens of South America

Colombia's heart and soul, Bogota has earned the nickname "Athens of South America" thanks to its abundance of universities, libraries, and lower-level schools.
Explore Bogota's surroundings by going to Reserva Natural El Chochal de Siecha (in Guasca), Tocancipa (Club de Golf UMB Universidad Manuela Beltran, Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de Fatima, &more) and Zipaquira (Catedral Diocesana, Casa Museo Quevedo Zornoza, &more). Make the 9th (Thu) a stimulating day with a coffee and tea tour. There's lots more to do: examine the collection at Gold Museum (Museo del Oro), indulge in some culinary diversions at a local gastronomic tour, admire the masterpieces at Museo Botero del Banco de la Republica, and contemplate the long history of Bolivar Square.

If you are flying in from Switzerland, the closest major aiport is El Dorado International Airport. In July in Bogota, expect temperatures between 21°C during the day and 10°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
