Villa de Leyva

Villa de Leyva ©
Positioned away from major trade routes and exploitable resources, the colonial town of Villa de Leyva has been largely left alone--leaving a window into the 16th century that has become one of Colombia's most popular attractions.
Venture out of the city with trips to Parque Central y Feria Dulce de Iza (in Iza), Vargas Swamp Lancers (in Paipa) and Puente de Boyaca (in Boyaca). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Museo Paleontológico, make a trip to Hotel Plaza Mayor Villa de Leyva, pause for some serene contemplation at Monasterio Del Santo Eccehomo, and admire the landmark architecture of Casa Terracota.

To see maps, traveler tips, other places to visit, and more tourist information, refer to the Villa de Leyva holiday planning tool.

You can take a bus from Zipaquira to Villa de Leyva in 3 hours. Another option is to drive. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 8th (Sun) so you can travel back home.
