Ica, Peru

Located on the Ica River in the desert areas of Peru's southern coast, the city of Ica stands as something of an oasis in the dry, barren landscape.
Kick off your visit on the 20th (Sun): get the adrenaline pumping with an extreme tour, then do a tasting at Tacama, then don't miss a visit to Plaza de Armas, and finally examine the collection at Regional Museum of Ica. On your second day here, explore the striking landscape at Canon de los Perdidos, do a tasting at El Catador Bodega Turistica, and then do some rugged exploring with a 4WD tour.

Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve and Catarata de Antankallo. Change things up with these side-trips from Lima: El Canon de Austisha (in Huarochiri), La Reyna de Lunahuana (in Lunahuana) and Reserva Nacional Lomas de Lachay (in Huaral). The adventure continues: don't miss a visit to Parque de la Reserva, take a stroll through Barranco, ponder the design of Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor), and take a leisurely stroll along Miraflores Boardwalk.
