Along the Dalmation Coast, the city of Dubrovnik has become famous for its pedestrian-only Old Town surrounded by fortress walls, and its historical heft has earned it World Heritage Site status.
Step off the beaten path and head to Fort Lovrijenac and Cavtat Cemetery. Get a sense of the local culture at Dubrovnik City Walls and Church of Saint Blaise. Change things up with these side-trips from Dubrovnik: Cavtat Seaside Promenade (in Cavtat) and Sunj Beach (in Lopud). There's still lots to do: get great views at Minceta Fortress, kick back and relax at Sveti Jakov Beach, steep yourself in history at Vlaho Bukovac House, and look for all kinds of wild species at Zarkovica Animal Shelter.

Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Visit Cathedral of St. Nicholas and Cankarjevo Nabrežje for their historical value. Get in touch with nature at Lake Bohinj and Vogel.
