Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Go for a jaunt from Venice to Padua to see Basilica of St. Anthony about 50 minutes away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande, pause for some serene contemplation at San Giorgio Maggiore, admire the masterpieces at Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and steep yourself in history at Ponte dei Sospiri.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Venice is an approximately 17-hour flight. The time zone changes from Brasilia Standard Time to Central European Standard Time, which is usually a 4 hour difference. In June in Venice, expect temperatures between 32°C during the day and 20°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 5th (Sat) so you can go by car to Verona.

In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Milan: Lake Como Adventures (in Como), Boat2Go (in Oliveto Lario) and Villa del Balbianello (in Tremezzina).
