Escape the urban bustle at Toucan Rescue Ranch and Playa Junquillal. Step out of San Jose to go to Cartago and see Ruins of the Church of Carthage, which is approximately 46 minutes away. Roanoke, USA to San Jose is an approximately 9.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. You'll gain 1 hour traveling from Roanoke to San Jose due to the time zone difference. Prepare for much warmer weather when traveling from Roanoke in November: high temperatures in San Jose hover around 79°F and lows are around 66°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Sat) so you can take a bus to Quepos.

The tourist-oriented town of Quepos marks the entrance for many travelers looking to explore the nearby national park.
Step off the beaten path and head to Skydive Costa Rica and Playa Matapalo. Relax by the water at Playa Manuel Antonio and Playa Biesanz.
