Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Head to Via Condotti and I Colori di Dentro di Maria Grazia Luffarellifor some retail therapy. Visiting Catacombs of Saint Callixtus and Parco Natura e Fattoria Didattica Voloalto will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Rome side-trips: Riserva Naturale Monte Velino (in Magliano de' Marsi), Acqua e Sale - Stabilimento Balneare (in Maccarese) and Sabbianera Super Beach (in Anguillara Sabazia). There's still lots to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Pantheon, ponder the design of Trevi Fountain, make a trip to Piazza Navona, and contemplate the long history of St. Peter's Basilica.

Copenhagen, Denmark to Rome is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. Expect somewhat warmer temperatures when traveling from Copenhagen in July; daily highs in Rome reach 37°C and lows reach 24°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Sun) so you can take a train to Florence.

Start off your visit on the 17th (Tue): identify plant and animal life at Riserva Naturale Ca' Roman, browse the eclectic array of goods at Mercatino dell'Antiquariato, and then contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande.
