Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Get a sense of the local culture at Colosseum and Pantheon. Vatican Museums and Galleria Borghese will appeal to museum buffs. Venture out of the city with trips to Civita di Bagnoregio (in Bagnoregio), Duomo di Orvieto (in Orvieto) and Riserva Naturale Monte Velino (in Magliano de' Marsi). There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of St. Peter's Basilica, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of St. Louis of the French, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Chiesa di Sant'Ignazio di Loyola, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona.

In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
On the 10th (Sun), make a trip to Piazza del Duomo, thencontemplate in the serene atmosphere at Duomo di Milano, thenpause for some serene contemplation at Chiesa di Santa Maria presso San Satiro, and finally take a stroll through Brera District. On the 11th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica San Michele Maggiore and then identify plant and animal life at Oasi di Sant'Alessio.

On the 12th (Tue), fly down the slopes at Zermatt-Matterhorn Ski Paradise, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Intercontinental Church Society, thenexamine the collection at Matterhorn Museum - Zermatlantis, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Parish Church of St. Mauritius. On the 13th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: explore the activities along Riffelsee and then tour along fresh powder with Matterhorn Diamonds Ski School.

You can take a train from Milan to Zermatt in 4 hours. Other options are to drive; or do a combination of bus and car. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Thu) to allow time to take a train to Geneva.

Geneva brings the world to one small city with a huge expat population and the highest number of international organizations in any one city.
Museum-lovers will get to explore Alimentarium and Maison Tavel. Visit Chateau de Chillon and Corniche Lavaux Vineyards for their historical value. Step out of Geneva with an excursion to Chateau de Nyon in Nyon--about 38 minutes away. There's lots more to do: wander the streets of Vieux-Carouge, explore the ancient world of Archeological Site at St. Pierre's Cathedral, explore the activities along Lake Geneva, and examine the collection at Musee des Suisses Dans Le Monde.
