Do some cultural sightseeing at Piazza San Marco and Basilica di San Marco. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Basilica of St. Anthony and Cannaregio. Change things up with a short trip to Scrovegni Chapel in Padua (about 54 minutes away). Next up on the itinerary: take in the spiritual surroundings of Scuola Grande di San Rocco, pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande, and enjoy breathtaking views from St Mark's Campanile.

Take a train from Florence to Venice in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Florence in October, you will find days in Venice are slightly colder (66°F), and nights are about the same (51°F). Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel to Dubrovnik.

Along the Dalmation Coast, the city of Dubrovnik has become famous for its pedestrian-only Old Town surrounded by fortress walls, and its historical heft has earned it World Heritage Site status.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Cavtat Old Town and Lapad. Do some cultural sightseeing at Dubrovnik City Walls and Old Town. There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Fort Lovrijenac, step off the mainland to explore Lokrum Island, don't miss a visit to Stradun, and take in panoramic vistas at Upper Corner Tower Foundry Museum.
