Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Appreciate the collections at Vatican Museums and Trevimage. Visiting Catacombs of Saint Callixtus and Lido Il Grillo will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Rome side-trips: Museo Palazzo Doebbing (in Sutri), Antico Presente (in Blera) and Chiesa della Madonna della Consolazione (in Caprarola). Next up on the itinerary: delve into the distant past at Pantheon, contemplate the long history of Colosseum, enjoy the sand and surf at Le Palme, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona.

If you are flying in from Sweden, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In July in Rome, expect temperatures between 37°C during the day and 24°C at night.
