Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Appreciate the collections at Vatican Museums and Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant'Angelo. Visiting Catacombs of Saint Callixtus and Antico Presente will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Rome side-trips: Museo Palazzo Doebbing (in Sutri), Chiesa della Madonna della Consolazione (in Caprarola) and Castel Gandolfo (Le Ninfe & Le Palme). Next up on the itinerary: steep yourself in history at St. Peter's Basilica, explore the ancient world of Palatine Hill, visit Trastevere, and don't miss a visit to Roman Forum.

If you are flying in from Sweden, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In July in Rome, expect temperatures between 37°C during the day and 24°C at night.
