Entebbe

— 12 nights
Nestled on Lake Victoria Peninsula, the laid-back town of Entebbe once served as seat of the colonial government, yet remains widely known as the scene of the 1976 Israeli rescue of hostages kidnapped by Palestinian and German plane hijackers.
Step out of Entebbe to go to Ssese Islands and see Buggala Island, which is approximately 1h 35 min away. Spend the 3rd (Mon) in the pleasant surroundings of Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. And it doesn't end there: take in nature's colorful creations at Entebbe Botanic Gardens, browse the different shops at Victoria Mall, get to know the resident critters at Reptile village in Entebbe, and see Off-Road Tours.

Pearl of Africa
Though small in area, Uganda represents one of the most populated landlocked countries in the world. You can feel this in the lakeside capital, but so much of the country remains untamed and untamable, with great lakes and towering mountains chief among the wilder sights. A recent troubled past delayed the growth of tourism in Uganda, but visitors now arrive in larger numbers, primarily drawn by the diverse wildlife that inhabits the country's mountains and forests. Notably, Uganda houses half of the world's population of mountain gorillas.
