The cultural, economic, and political center of the country, Vienna has developed from its early Celtic and Roman roots into a medieval and Baroque city, with an old town that was designated a World Heritage Site in 2001.
Attractions like Central Cemetery (Zentralfriedhof) and Hundertwasserhaus make great kid-friendly stops. Get a sense of the local culture at Melk Abbey and Kaiserliche Schatzkammer Wien. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Vienna: Wachau Valley (in Joching), Weingut Christian Fischer (in Sooss) and Katholic Pfarrkirche Hl. Nikolaus (in Krems an der Donau).
