The capital and largest city of Oman, the coastal city of Muscat boasts numerous historical sites and pristine modern developments.

Take a break from Muscat with a short trip to Daymaniyat Islands Nature Reserve in Seeb, about 44 minutes away. New Delhi, India to Muscat is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1.5 hours traveling from New Delhi to Muscat. Traveling from New Delhi in October, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be somewhat warmer in Muscat, with lows of 31°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Sat) so you can fly to Khasab.

A lively provincial capital, Khasab has been termed the "Norway of Arabia," because of its dramatic coastline, where dramatic inlets resemble the fjords of Scandinavia.

Kick off your visit on the 4th (Sun): explore the historical opulence of Festung Cacapo and then look for all kinds of wild species at Wildlife Areas.

You can fly from Muscat to Khasab in 3 hours. Other options are to do a combination of bus and car; or do a combination of bus and car. In October, daily temperatures in Khasab can reach 39°C, while at night they dip to 33°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sun) so you can travel to Nizwa.

Once the capital of the sultanate, Nizwa stands as one of the longest-established urban areas in the country, and has retained its traditional core.

Venture out of the city with trips to Al Hamra (Wadi Nakhr Canyon & Al Hoota Cave). You can fly from Khasab to Nizwa in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of ferry, car, bus, and taxi. When traveling from Khasab in October, plan for little chillier days and colder nights in Nizwa: temperatures range from 28°C by day to 17°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Wed) early enough to travel to Salalah.

The Sultanate's second city, Salalah has become known as a southerly counterpoint to the capital in the north.

Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Nizwa in October: high temperatures in Salalah hover around 36°C and lows are around 28°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 10th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
