As the capital and largest city of Belarus, Minsk represents a cultural center full of churches, libraries, museums, and theatres.
Take a break from Minsk with a short trip to St. Casimir's Church in Lahojsk, about 52 minutes away. Mir is a town in Kareličy raion, Hrodna Voblast, Belarus on the banks of Miranka River, about 85 kilometers southwest of the national capital, Minsk.Prior to 1939 the town was in Poland.HistoryMir village was founded sometime prior to 1345. The capital city of the region of the same name, Grodno (also called Hrodna) was built around the river flowing through it, and is known as a hub for the arts celebrating both modern and classical culture with three major theaters, a philharmonic society, and a multitude of museums.
Kick off your visit on the 26th (Mon): see the interesting displays at Grodno Gates, shop like a local with Cudounia, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Kalozha Church Boris-Gleb Church, then examine the collection at The Watchtower of the fire department and a Fire Museum, then pause for some serene contemplation at The Jesuit Catholic Church, and finally don't miss a visit to Sovetskaya Street.
