Trek around Tolmin Gorge to discover its many natural features, including the Bear's Head, a fallen moss-covered rock stuck between its walls like a bridge. The gorge is the lowest entry point into Triglav National Park. Devil's Bridge, a steel bridge that replaced an older wooden one from 1907, shelters a small cave with a thermal spring. At the entrance, get a map and inquire where to go. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water and food. The scenery along the gorge features many wet, dark tunnels, crossings, rapids, and waterfalls. Notice the green-blue color of the crystal clear water, the result of its mineral content. • This gorge was absolutely amazing. We visited late afternoon and it wasn't overly busy. We got to explore at our own pace and really enjoy the experience. It was stunning. My only concern, if you are travelling from Bled, be ready to tackle lots of mountain roads getting back to your hotel. All worth it though.
  • A place to visit if you are in this part of the country. One word of advice. As it's a circular route, you can take the lower route or the upper one. Take the upper one because the nastiest part is on a steep south slope and if you take the lower route, you will have a cool descent at first, but then you will have to climb 100 m with scorching sun on your back - and by the time you react the top - you will know why Dante got the idea of writing Inferno right there on the spot. So - take the top route, the nastiest bit will become an easy walk downhill and the final climb will be easy and short stroll through a shaded area.
