Technical Museum of Slovenia, Ljubljana

4.6
Occupying the buildings and grounds of a former monastery, Technical Museum of Slovenia boasts a collection of luxury cars once used by Tito, president of former Yugoslavia for nearly four decades. Hugely appealing to car lovers, the museum also features many exhibits dedicated to hunting, fishing, woodworking, forestry, and electrical engineering. Some of the most popular areas include a recreation of a blacksmiths shop, flour mill, and a sawmill. Guided tours in several languages (including English) bring the science and technology behind the exhibits closer to the visitors. Those interested in a more immersive experience can join a demonstration or workshop on a range of technological subjects. • A few kilometers from Ljubljana, this museum really deserves to be moved, both in its content and in its magnificent setting. It is exciting for both adults and children. You can see agricultural machinery, mills, old tools and discover, among other things, the trades of wood and printing. There is also a section dedicated to hunting. But the highlight of the museum is the collection of vintage cars, especially those that belonged to Tito. The communist leaders, as everyone knows, had a taste for luxury and beautiful things... One last thing: we appreciated the extreme discretion and friendliness of the staff. This was the case in all the museums in Slovenia that we visited, unlike other countries.

  • So so many things to see. From Tesla coils in operation to armored president car. From needle to castle itself. But it is a bit remote from capital.  more »

  • I have been to this museum with my daughter several times in a time period of over a decade. It is just amazing how children react to well presented and educationally well founded materials. But it is not just for children. Technically and historically savvy persons can find here really a lot of interesting and aesthetically pleasing things. Strongly recommend place for several hours of quality learning experience.
  • It's a very nice place with historical museum and a restaurant just opposite it.It's got a wide parking area and a great view of surroundings. You can go to the museum and see old cars of Titto(ex -Yugoslavia president) and so many other historical things. The restaurant here has got a warm and friendly staff with great customer care.
