Palace of Parliament, Bucharest

Ironically named the "People's Palace" by the country's most notable dictator, Palace of Parliament was built for Nicolae Ceauşescu, who was killed in the revolution before the building was finished. Among marble-plated halls and conference rooms, notice the twin marble stairways, which were rebuilt three times before Ceauşescu was satisfied with their height. The highlights of the guided tour include the ethnographic display of traditional Romanian costumes, and the balcony from which Michael Jackson greeted the public. For an extra fee, you can take a tour of the basement, or climb to the roof terrace, which offers one of the best views of the city. The building also houses a museum of contemporary art. • The world's second largest building and one of the most important landmarks of the city. The size of this buildings has to be seen to be believed. Unfortunately the interior can only be visited as part of a guided tour and when I arrived the next 2 tours were already sold out.
  • Amazing palace of parliament with interesting history. 2nd biggest administrative building in the world. Most expensive building in the world. About 1million cubic metres of marble used. 1000s of rooms but tours only take you to some of the nice one. usually tours take 2 hours but if events being hosted. The screenshot shows the gate for entrance to the parliament for tours. Remember to bring your original passport, no exceptions. Tours mainly in English but some days can be in Spanish. Book tour a day before by calling. Usually they have enough spots to fit you in for English tours.
