Trip Planner: Europe / Poland / Central Poland / Mazovia Province / Warsaw / Grob Nieznanego Zolnierza
See one of Poland's significant World War I monuments, Grob Nieznanego Zolnierza. The structure at the site features the remains of the old Saxon Palace, which has only been partially rebuilt and serves as a tomb. Soil from 24 battlefields has been added to urns inside the tomb. Although the majority of the memorial is dedicated to fallen soldiers from World War I, it hosts ceremonies commemorating unknown soldiers who have fallen in almost every war that Poland has fought over the years. An eternal flame burns at the tomb and a guard from the Polish army remains on watch to keep it ablaze. Many visitors leave flowers and tokens around the site as a tribute, and you can too, but be aware that these are removed regularly. The Virtuti Militari and Cross of Valor, two of Poland's highest military honors, are portrayed on steel gratings behind the memorial. Amazing. So much history in one place. I love this just come here and look in peace. I do have one concern there are some people who are straight up disrespectful towards the place. Driving around on their bikes screaming and playing music literally 4 m away from the grave.
Army memorial grave located at the park. Historic moment to be remembered and cherish over the time. Cool building design for kodak moment.
