Malbork

3.5
Castles · Architectural Buildings · Theme Parks
Although it contains Europe's largest Gothic castle, Malbork remains a small rural town overlooked by the majority of Poland's foreign visitors. Built in the 13th century by the Teutonic Knights, the World Heritage-listed castle represents one of the world's best-preserved examples of a medieval fortress. Malbork's old town suffered massive destruction at the end of World War II, and the bricks from its ruined medieval structures ended up in reconstructed buildings of Gdansk and Warsaw. Despite this, the city retains a medieval atmosphere thanks to its emblematic castle, which occupies a prominent location on the Nogat River. Our Poland travel planner allows you to schedule your trip to Malbork, learn about its attractions, and find out about where else to go during your holiday.
