Bimmah Sinkhole, Muscat

4.1
#3 of 24 in Nature in Oman
Cool off and take a dip in the clear waters of Bimmah Sinkhole. The picturesque basin reaches 20 m (65 ft) at its deepest point, and was formed naturally due to erosion and the collapse of its limestone floor. Take some postcard-like shots of the vivid, emerald-colored water of the pool, go for a swim, or have a picnic on the tiny sinkhole beach. • This place has a wonderfully invigorating feel to it. It's a great place to swim, to have a picnic, and enjoy the vistas.... mountains on one side, blue sea on the other. The little shades put up all around provide people with many opportunities to relax in the shade. Decent bathroom facilities. Also has a children's play area.
  • It was a new experience for me. But the visitors need to be more disciplined. Saw people jumping from top which is clearly against the rule. There is a nice staircase to reach the bottom.
