Lysefjord, Stavanger

#1 of 13 in Parks in Stavanger
Must see · Valley · Nature / Park
One of the region's most popular inlets, Lysefjord boasts imposing cliffs, forested slopes, and a host of rock formations. A boat tour gives a good look at the marine ecosystem that characterizes the area, and you may even get a glimpse of the old village of Florli. Traverse the rugged terrain up to the "pulpit rock"--a cliff over the sea that affords a clear view of the winding waterway. Hike your way up the nearby Kjerag Mountain for a sweeping view over the surrounding peaks and the fjord itself. Top off the journey to the mountain plateau by stepping on top of the Kjeragbolten, a boulder wedged within a crevasse suspended 984 m (3,228 ft) above the fjord.
