Trip Planner: South Pacific / New Zealand / South Island / Marlborough Region / Blenheim / Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre
Take a journey through the history of flight and see numerous historical artifacts, including the insignia from Red Baron's own plane, at Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre. Started by a dedicated group of aviation enthusiasts, the museum is especially renowned for its impressive collection of biplanes and triplanes from the World War I era, a personal collection of celebrated film director Peter Jackson. Inspect legends of the skies like an Airco DH.4 and other extremely rare machines, such as the Caproni Ca.22. Another exhibition showcases WWII aircraft, including the world’s only flyable Avro Anson Mk.1, and features female pilots more prominently. The museum also offers you the chance to soar through the skies and enjoy the views from the backseat of a biplane. Make Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre a centerpiece of your Blenheim vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Blenheim trip planning site.

What a place to visit if are like me a aviation nut. I was taken back at the work that has been taken to make it look real. A fantastic place to visit. I would go back a gain and a gain. Top marks. more »
Allow half a day to take in this attraction, as well as the classic car museum next door. This is a credit to those that have created this marvellous historical display more »
That was so cool! I'm not even into planes or war, but it was fascinating. The thing that brought it all for me were the stories if individuals. Wonderful experience:)
This was great. Cost $25 for entry to one exhibit so not cheap bit great staff, planes were awesome to see, lots of information displayed creatively. Worth going in my view if you are okay with the price.
