Explore collections of guns, plaques, seals, coats of arms, flags, coins, photographs, furniture, and documents at the historical King Nicholas Museum. Founded in 1926, the museum has preserved the ambience of the former 19th-century royal palace. Head to the room called odzaklija (chimney room) to see where the tribal heads gathered to make important decisions about the Montenegrin state. The Montenegrin crown jewels are on display in the entrance hall. An ethnographic collection includes preserved garments of King Nikola and Queen Milena. The museum also features the court library with 10,000 rare books. By using our Cetinje holiday website, you can arrange your visit to King Nicholas Museum and other attractions in Cetinje.

King Nikola's Palace, now a Museum is a significant feature in this town, the earlier Capital of Montenegro. The history surrounding all the buildings in Cetinje is quite amazing, as is the overall... more »
The former palace of King Nikola is charming because of the poverty of Montenegro at that time and the tiny scale of the royal palace, reflecting the nature of the country during its brief period of monarchy. It is on the scale of an elegant but cash-strapped English Victorian country house. There are family heirlooms, including paintings, weapons, clothes and photographs of Nikola, his family and relatives. The place is a curiosity and if you are in the former capital, worth paying the entrance price. There is no hard sell in the tiny souvenir area.
Very rich, beautiful museum. Representing one small country trought history, how people are living, the way how they lived and one person king Nikola what did for his country
