Part of a World Heritage Site, Casemates du Bock once played a key role in a network of defensive underground passages. Originally stretching for over 20 km (12.5 mi), the honeycombed passageways housed garrisons of soldiers defending the city, along with their horses, weapons, and other essential equipment. Constructed in the mid-18th century, the casemates provided a shelter for nearly 40,000 locals during World War II. After exploring the city's underground history, enjoy sweeping views from the top of the casements. Expect lots of stairs and prepare for your walk by wearing a pair of comfortable shoes.     visiting a tunnel system underneath the fortress is always a thing to do! the tunnels open on the cliffside and you can have a look over old town called Grund. Entry price is maybe a little high...  more »

    I loved that place! Amaizing views at any direction you turn your head! I was there standing about two hours and watching the incredible view from casamate..Honestly I didn't want to leave! I love this great locations, is quiet but it got too much to show! I will definitely return back!

    This world Heritage site was very very impressive! The tunnels are very expansive and go on for quite a bit! Be prepared to duck, crouch, and potentially get lost! Bring comfortable shoes and be ready to get comfortable with low lighting. Awesome experience and lots of facts on the wall to learn!
