Torre dell'Orologio, Venice

#20 of 811 in Things to do in Venice
Observation Deck · Hidden Gem · Architectural Building
A distinctive feature of the Piazza San Marco in Venice, Torre dell'Orologio keeps time on an early Renaissance building over the Merceria entrance. In the 15th century, this was strategically placed high above the piazza so travelers looking into the city from the lagoon could recognize Venice's wealth and innovation. In the lower two floors of the clock tower, an archway connects the political center and commercial centers of the city. • Nice water with interesting clock. Come at round hours to listen to the bell. An additional activity to view when you are here  more »
  • This place needs a major refurb. A lot of effort to get the structure to good stead again. Outside here, we were harrased by touts.  more »
  • Like everything else in Venice, this is some impressive Italian engineering and architecture. It is worth a look if you are passing by. There is plenty of space in the nearby square to move around to get a good look at the building and find the perfect angle to get the best photo for social media.
  • I loved the guide and the view. I recommend it. You need the book your visit online or at phone.
