Villa Farnesina is a Renaissance villa and a former cardinal’s palace, once used for entertaining guests. The highlight of this attraction is the artwork. You will find stunning paintings here, including a famous fresco of the nymph Galatea in the first loggia. There is also an impressive marble staircase, tapestries, and antique decor. Before you leave, check out the peaceful gardens surrounding the building. Escape the hussle and bustle of Rome for this lovely quiet oasis. It’s a gorgeous old villa with a long and impressive history. While parts of it are still under restoration, those that have been completed are quite stunning with works by Raphael and other well known artists. The audio guide is well worth getting. Most areas have English translations too. It’s well worth a visit. Expect to spend an hour to an hour and a half here. (Note: the front counter staff are very grumpy here. They need to be more pleasant. The security guard is a lovely fellow though.)

Wow, superb frescos and beautiful grounds. Really worth a visit if you enjoy your art. The villa is not huge, reading everything and walking though each room and the grounds takes about an hour. Ignore the opening times on the website and Google - it’s pretty much open 9 am - 5 pm most days.
