  • The Tower, with its façade and concave back and convex sides, is the work of Borromini and was built around the 1648 to decorate the Convent of the Filipinos. Under The Great Clock, the mosaic of the Virgin and Child, called "Madonna della Vallicella", is made on the design of Pietro da Cortona, artist of the Early Baroque: his frescoes for the dome, the basin and the vault of the adjoining New Church.

  • In Piazza Dell'orologio, in the Rione VI Parione, there is a particular and beautiful Tower with a Clock (hence the name of the Square), with a particular architectural form (the façade and the concave back and the convex sides), built by Francesco Borromini in 1647-1648. The Tower is bounded by two columns with capitals on the sides of the façade, and centrally are arranged two elements, at the base a Shrine Sacred (below is a deepening in this regard) and higher a large clock that "wears" the upper part . The Tower ends, with an original construction, with three bells, the largest central, held by ornamental iron volutes, in the highest part there is a small cross. As I wrote above, there is a Shrine Sacred, depicting the Madonna della Vallicella, this is a polychrome mosaic, made on the design of Pietro da Cortona In The work is depicted the classical Iconography of the Madonna della Vallicella, Crowned with the Infant Jesus, also crowned, in a blessing attitude with a globe and a cross, also held by the Madonna. They lie in the clouds on a half moon with the sun in the background. Below complete the opera three ecstatic Cherubim.
