Named for the founder of the Roman Empire and its first emperor, Forum of Augustus stands as an example of imperial forum architecture in the heart of the former empire. Construction of the forum, built to honor Mars and to carry out legal proceedings, began around 20 BCE. The millennia-old building remains today as ruins, including several well-preserved columns. • To see this area - you go under the street from Forumand see it as well as the Arch of Trajan. It is an active excavation site so what we saw was different than some of these photos.  more »
  • Another fascinating place to see in Rome, one of many, sadly 4 days is just not enough to see it all.  more »
  • The most amazing thing to do in Rome! Take the time, go to buy the tickets there. Great way to really picture what the ruins looked like in ancient times. Video, sound. Astounding
  • did the even light show. really informative, worth the ticket price and a good start to getting the down low on the start of the empire. one thing like all Italian museum visits the language used is overly clunky, official and incomprehensible but still good.
