  • The Fountain of the Naiads (Fontana delle Naiadi) is a nice fountain arrangement in the centre of traffic clogged Piazza della Repubblica in Rome. While the piazza itself leaves much to be desired due to the vehicle traffic and noise, this fountain is actually nice to see . Here you can see a multiple level fountain that was originally created n 1880. The various nude Naiads (nymphs) were added in 1901 by Mario Rutelli. They represent the Waters (Lakes, Rivers, Oceans and Underground Waters) and are featured along with a allegorical creatures. The fountain is anchored by a larger centre figure, which seems to be a fisherman wrestling with a large fish.  Overall, this is a neat fountain to see in Rome. However, its location makes it somewhat less appealing to visit. If you are in the Termini area, it is worth having a look as you pass by the piazza in between sightseeing endeavours. Just be mindful of the heavy traffic that can be found at this roundabout piazza if you choose to cross over to the centre area where the fountain is located. Show
