  • Amazing to think the Apostle Paul would have seen this aqueduct in the first century as he walked to Rome as a prisoner.
  • The Claudio aqueduct (in Latin Aqua Claudia), the eighth in order of construction, was one of the most important in ancient Rome, both for the avant-garde technologies used in construction, and for the considerable commitment of labour, and for the magnitude of Expenses incurred to make it happen. The construction of the aqueduct was begun in 38 A.D. by the emperor Caligula and was completed under the Principality of Claudius in 52 d. C; It seems however that the aqueduct was already active in 47 D. C, five years before its completion. It has undergone a great importance both for its efficiency and for the growing necessity of water by a city in continuous increase of population.
