Nestled halfway between the town's historical center and Piazza Fontana Moresca, Cappella Sant'Angelo all'Ospedale remains worth a visit thanks to its beautiful marble work. Small and modest from the outside, the church dates as far back as the 11th century when it served as a resting place for pilgrims visiting the hospital. The adjacent four-story bell tower is a later addition. Notice the geometric decoration of the sidewalls, a small 13th-century pulpit resting on intricately designed white marble columns, and the altar fresco of the Madonna with Child from the 19th century. A series of apsidal niches, to the right of the altar, lead into the sacristy.
