Art Museum · Hidden Gem · Museum
Dating back to the golden Republican age of Genoa, Palazzo Ducale originally served as a home for the doges of Genoa and has had many stages of construction over the centuries. The palace, partially rebuilt in Neoclassic style after the fire of 1777, is now a cultural center and art museum with a wide range of modern and classical pieces. A chapel showcases frescoes from the 17th century. Outside the palace, you can explore among the lemon trees, Mediterranean flowers, and sculptures. You can see the old quarter of Genoa peeking out from behind the fountains. Free audio guides are available. Check online to find out about free concerts and exhibits. • The place is amazing! It is worth visiting just for the architecture. But I was lucky enough to lose myself in an exhibit dedicated to Mexican painters and to hear a free concert of philarmonic band on a beautiful Summer Sunday. Must-see in the city!
  • One of the greatest mediavel palaces I've ever seen. It is a multifunctional meeting place full of life.
