Admire Romanesque architecture in the heart of Tuscany at Palazzo Vecchio. Built at the turn of the 14th century, the palace now serves as the city's town hall and boasts a collection of art and interior decor from the last six centuries. Tour the Salone dei Cinquecento, with its gold-paneled ceiling and colorful murals, or head outside to see the antique, decorative facade and the original site of Michelangelo's "David" statue. You can visit the palace's three courtyards and outdoor areas free of charge, or pay for a complete tour of the building's interior. The thing we liked the most here was an exposition of very beautiful statues that had in front of the palace. Not sure if this is always there or if it was seasonal, but you will definitely not lose..... more »

Very interesting. Do the excavation tour, well worth it if you stop and listen to the 10 minute movie. If it looks like rain either don't bother with the tower or do it straight away before the rain as it is closed when wet.

Beautiful. Just that. Each room is decorated in a specific way. The artists that worked on this palace truly gave it a flavour of aristocracy while keeping the warmth of a home. If you're a student in the E.U. you get a small discount. There are lots of different options. You can choose any combination of visits: -to the palace -to the tower -to the underground recently discovered roman theater On a good day, the line for the tickets is not that long (considering other places of interest in Florence) KEEP IN MIND! there is usually a line (around thirty minutes wait) for the tower, AFTER you have purchased your ticket.
