Monte Solaro, Anacapri

#1 of 22 in Things to do in Anacapri
Mountain · Lookout
The highest point on the island of Capri, Monte Solaro is topped with two significant structures. A statue of Emperor Augustus, the man who first landed on the Capri, depicts a very muscular emperor and is affixed to the side of the mountaintop. The Fortino di Bruto was used as a blockhouse in battles between France and Britain in the 19th century. To reach the summit, use either the Passetiello nature trail or the path that begins at Axel Munthe. Plan to wear lightweight clothing and sturdy walking shoes. • A must do on island of Capri. The views are just amazing. Not very expensive and not at all scary. The chair is a single occupancy, but even someone apprehensive about heights would be OK  more »
  • Chairlift to Monte Solaro is 24 Euros to & fro. Bird's eye view of entire landscape is worth every penny. Also you can hop off at the peak for photographs & sip on some beverages in the cafe before you head back to the foothills
  • We took the chair lift up, then hiked down. It's a beautiful view. The hike is a little rocky, but worth it. We really enjoyed it. A must if you're going to Capri
