Tanah Lot Temple, Beraban

4.2
Built onto a giant offshore rock, Tanah Lot Temple remains one of the more venerated Hindu structures with strong ties to Balinese mythology. One of seven significant sea temples spread across Bali's coastline, this shrine is allegedly the work of Dan Hyang Nirartha, a 16th-century religious figure and traveler who founded the island's Shaivite priesthood. Though you can walk to the rock during low tide, keep in mind that non-Balinese visitors cannot enter the temple itself. The site--one of the most photographed in Bali--draws huge crowds at sunset, when soft light bathes the area and creates a nearly magical atmosphere. • Tanah Lot was our last stop for the day. Our tour agent had to drive fast & dodge traffic in order to reach the place before sunset. We were just in time as traffic was really bad. Tanah Lot is an...  more »
  • Whilst it’s a beautiful place to see, it’s not like you could “see” that much. You couldn’t enter any temples, so it was all from afar. The shops that there were, were good. We went into the Ralph...  more »

  • A fantastic place to spend an evening and watch the sunset as the Tanah Lot temple is located plumb in the edge of the sea. With a portion embedded a few metres into the sea. Serene place despite the crowd and all you can hear is the sound of the waves amidst the ruff n tumble. Truly scenic and a photographers paradise. No permission to enter inside the temple and foreign tourists can only take a detour. But it's a place worth visiting and a must see place if you are visiting Bali.
  • Great place to witness the natural beauty of mother nature. Really enjoyed my halt here and ended up clicking few photographs along with my wife. Highly recommendable place to visit from my end to experience the peace and calm nature. Well maintained, clean as well. But, I do recommend people to either visit early in the morning or after 4pm. Or else you will have to face the power of sun God. Too hot!
