Village Women Craft, Ranthambore National Park

It was wonderful visiting this place. The people were so nice and the selection was great. Unlike most stores in the area, the people who make the crafts are the ones selling them to you. Considering how hard displaced villagers have had it since they were forced off their lands, it was nice knowing that buying these lovely things will help support them and their families. The prices were reasonable for a tourist store, much cheaper than similar handicrafts in Delhi. The best part was interacting with all the artists, who are very sweet and do lovely work. I bought a bedspread and am excited to put it to use.

Though this place has a nice collection, pkease be wary of the prices of the products and ensure you get the bill/receipt od the shopping. It is funny that 5 salespeople collect around you when you go and shop. Perhaps, even your drivers would have been given a commission to take you here. The products they are selling are 2.5 times the actual price. Pls. Don't get carried away by the hospitality, and buy products. I realised after ovetspending that exact same products were found in other places for half the price. Hi Team, I have read your response. And it is nice to know you are supporting the women- but what is the actual percentage of benefit you pass on to them? If you are not giving us a bill, and paying a high commission to our drivers for bringing us there..do the women you say are creating these pieces getting the right reward for their labour? Also, you should not have any problem in furnishing a proper receipt right? We have dis scussed with other guests in our hotel the 'The heritage haveli' who also visited you yesterday. They also complained about the high prices and not being given the receipt and abiding by the law of the land.. ..can you send this to us if you all are playing fairly?
