Chhatarpur Temple, New Delhi

#13 of 109 in Historic Sites in New Delhi
Religious Site · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
An array of towers, statues, and shrines dot the complex of Chhatarpur Temple, one of the largest sites of its kind in the world. Founded in 1974, the temple complex grew in the following decades--today, it features three sections spread over 24 hectares (60 acres). Though the temple primarily honors the Goddess Katyayani, you'll find numerous other deities worshipped here at side shrines. Intricate architecture includes carved pillars and colorful tile work, as well as a towering statue of Hanuman, the monkey god that watches over the temple.
