Untouched prehistoric scenery waits for you at Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park, a protected high-elevation ecosystem and a World Heritage Site. Home to the largest surviving population of the endangered Niligir tahr, the area's designated visitor zone allows you to uncover the delicate shola-grassland terrain without disturbing the ibex's natural habitat. At a base elevation of roughly 2,000 m (6,561 ft), the rolling hill plateaus rise up to the highest peak in India south of the Himalayas. Start your journey at the park's tourist center, from which you can take a guided tour in a forest vehicle. Bring plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear, and keep in mind that the park closes in February and March for the calving season. Make Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park part of your personalized Munnar itinerary using our Munnar itinerary planner.

  • Absolutely great place for morning trek. Buses shuttle people from entrance to hill top and changes 200/- per person. The path meandering through tea estate and forest is and amazing view. Mornings before 11am should give great colourful sky view rich with fresh air. If lucky, as we were , then you could spot the Nilgiri Thar - an endangered goat species . Amazing views, fresh air, moderate trek. Some fresh stream of water from which you could drink out cool mountain waters. Additionally there is a snacks shop, a photograph gallery about the hills and flora-fauna and some collectibles shops.
  • Really God's own Country! Really wonderful to watch the beauty of God's creation!! Eravikulam National Park is a 97 square kilometers park located along the Western Ghats. It is located in Idukki district in Kerala state, India. This National Park is administered by the Kerala Department of Forest and Wildlife. Eravikulam National Park is the first national park in Kerala. Those who visit this park will really feel to visit it again.
