Winding along the edge of steep slopes, Coakers Walk offers panoramic views the Pambar River valley, the town of Periyakulam, and the ancient city of Madurai. Half way up, look through the telescope to get a closer look at the landmarks appearing on the horizon. Look for a flat rock protruding from a sheer cliff into the abyss--that's Dolphin's Nose, another popular viewpoint. On a foggy day, you may witness a peculiar phenomenon called "Brochen bow," an optical illusion that allows you to see your magnified shadow cast on a cloud and framed with a rainbow halo.     It is just a relaxing walk, with good views of mountains. Snacks are available inside. It is very near to the centre of the town. Bryant park and lake are close by.  more »
