The burial place of many notable figures from Guyana's history, Seven Ponds Monument is located near Georgetown's botanical gardens. Sir Arthur Chung (Guyana's first president), Martin Carter (Guyanese poet), and Sir Martin Carter (first Governor General) are all buried near the monument.
