Located in the heart of Munich's pedestrian area, St. Michael's Church is the largest Renaissance church north of the Alps and features the second-largest vaulted ceiling in the world, after St. Peter's in Rome. The Jesuit church, built between 1583 and 1587, was conceived as a spiritual center for the Counter Reformation. Duke of Bavaria William V pulled down 87 houses in the center of Munich to bring this ambitious project to life. The building's style largely influenced Southern Germany's early Baroque architecture. Between the two entrances, look for one of the church's most famous monuments: the large bronze statue of the Archangel Michael fighting a demon. Inside, you'll be in awe of the barrel-vaulted roof, which spans more than 20 m (65 ft). Amazing architecture - must see !! The famous choir notwithstanding, this quiet place in the middle of the bustling Viktuels market is a sanctum for both the religious and the agnostic person. One can marvel at the truly breathtaking frescoes and the magnificent opulence of the architecture. And stay tuned for the mystical music wafting from its gigantic flutes that is a treat for any music aficionado. Highly recommend !!

I was just walking around as a tourist to check the views and the atmosphere and it was lovely! Even in the night you have a little “lake” with glowing rock mushrooms in front of the church with the twin towers who are really beautiful.
