Lichtenstein Castle, Lichtenstein

#10 of 393 in Historic Sites in Baden-Wurttemberg
Must see · Castle · Landmark
Lichtenstein Castle, a castle built on a cliff, has been destroyed and rebuilt twice. Originally built around 1200, the castle is now owned by the Dukes of Urach. Inside the castle, you can see an impressive collection of historic weapons and armor. While this castle is smaller than other German castles, you will be awed by the structure and the surrounding environment's beauty. A treetop adventure course near the castle offers fun for more adventurous visitors. Arrange to visit Lichtenstein Castle and other attractions in Lichtenstein using our Lichtenstein visit planner.

  • Wonderful castle!! Great with kids and not overcrowded. Tour only with German speaking guide but you can get paper guide in mamy languages which is good enough. I highly recommend this place!
  • It’s a very pretty but given the history of it, it’s not as impressive as some of the fairytale-like castle’s that have got a good story behind them. I recommend using it as an excuse for a good hike or as a main stop on a hike as the surrounding area is beautiful.
