Trusso Valley, Stepantsminda

#3 of 8 in Nature in Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region
Valley · Nature / Park
At Trusso Valley, trek along a river past deserted villages and ancient towers. The valley is dotted with white and red travertine formations, geysers, and mineral springs, and provides habitats for a variety of birds. Keep an eye out, too, for a bubbling mineral lake filled with carbon dioxide. You may run into Georgian soldiers--due to the proximity of the border--so it’s good to have your passport with you. Wear sturdy shoes appropriate for traversing the area's rocky, slippery paths. You can also explore the valley on a mountain bike.
