Gammel Strand, Copenhagen

#7 of 13 in Neighborhoods in Copenhagen
Neighborhood · Other
Experience Copenhagen's lively side at Gammel Strand, one of the city's oldest and most picturesque streets. A natural beach once occupied this site, around which formed the small fishing village that was to become Copenhagen. Today, the street is most recognizable for its canal lined with colorful 18th- and 19th-century houses. But it also houses some of the city's most popular bars and cafes, a must-see for those looking to explore the city's nightlife. You can also head here to catch a boat tour of the canals. • Walked along after visiting the palace and it’s a pleasant street with some nice architecture. Mix of bars, restaurants etc and starting point for canal trips.  more »
  • Just a street on the edge of a canal. Common buildings, with banal architecture. Nothing out of common. It ends at Hojbro Plads square. Here is a boarding point for city boat tours.  more »
