Mucha Museum, Prague

3.4
Packed with paintings, posters, and decorative panels, Mucha Museum offers a look at the creative universe of one of the biggest names in the Art Nouveau movement. The relatively small museum holds a large collection of Alfons Mucha's finest works, as well as a selection of his personal photographs. Mucha enthralled the art world of the early 20th century with his paintings of Slavic maidens adorned with garlands and linden boughs. Although the museum displays many of these images, its prized possession remains an original 1894 poster of actress Sarah Bernhardt, which elevated Mucha to international stardom. The on-site shop offers gifts with various Mucha motifs. • If you like Mucha, this is a must visit. Unfortunately it is small and won't take very long to see it all. His work is truly breathtaking and what they do have is some great examples of his work. The way he did eyes, it is like you see their souls. Gift shop had some great options to take home his work, and while it isn't really cheap, it is reasonable enough.
  • Small, but lovely museum. A must see for Mucha enthusiasts. I tend to take my time in museums, so I was here for about an hour and a half, then maybe spent a half hour in the gift shop. The employees were very nice. no photos though! I accidentally missed the sign, so took two, but was very politely made aware of it.
